Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club Impresses at the 2026 KCS June Classic Invitational

Stellar Performances from Promising Swimmers
At the 2026 KCS June Classic Invitational, held from June 5–7 in Kamloops, B.C., the Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club showcased their remarkable talent in a competitive field of over 600 swimmers. The club’s team of eight young athletes, aged 11-12, demonstrated their swimming prowess, achieving a 10th place overall finish with a commendable 489 points. This impressive showing is a testament to the dedication and skill of swimmers like Dakota Wigness - 103 Points, Zoe Gursky - 96 Points, and Miller Gotto - 92 Points, who were the top point earners for the team.
Medalists
The Goldfins swimmers achieved notable success, with several standout performances.
- Sofia Baron: Bronze in 100M Breaststroke (1:24.88) and 50M Breaststroke (38.84).
- Jacob Findlay: GOLD in 200M Butterfly (3:07.40).
- Zoe Gurksy: Silver in 200M Backstroke (2:46.94), 100M Fly (1:17.85) and Bronze in 50M Backstroke (35.66)
- Dakota Wigness: Silver in 200M Breaststroke (3:05.15), Bronze in 200M Fly (2:59.69)

A Finals Achievements
- Jacob Findlay: 5th in 200M Backstroke, 6th in 100M Fly, 8th in 100M Backstroke.
- Miller Gotto: 4th in 200M Backstroke, , 5th in 200M Freestyle and 100M Backstroke, 6th in 50M Freestyle and 50M Backstroke, 7th in 100M Freestyle, 8th in 50M Fly.
- Zoe Gursky: 6th in 200M Individual Medley and 100M Backstroke.
- Dakota Wigness: 4th in 50M Breaststroke, 5th in 200M Individual Medley and 100M Breaststroke, 7th in 200M Freestyle.

- Girls 12 & U: 1st – 200M Freestyle Relay and 2nd – 200M Medley Relay
- Boys 12 & U: 6th in 200M Medley Relay and 8th in 200M Freestyle Relay

The Goldfins swimmers achieved eight new provincial long course qualifying times, setting the stage for future competitions.

Personal Bests and Most Improved
The Goldfins 11-12 Select Team achieved 32 personal best times over the weekend. Notable improvements include:
- Jacob Findlay: 100 Backstroke with a remarkable 11.8% improvement, shaving off 10.82 seconds.
- Danny Wang: 100M Breaststroke with a 10.6% improvement, reducing his time by 11.88 seconds.
- Danny Wang: 100M Backstroke with a 9.4% improvement, cutting 10.06 seconds.
Acknowledgments and Future Events

The team now looks forward to the 2026 Saskatchewan Summer Junior Provincials in Saskatoon from June 12–14, where they aim to continue their winning streak.
