Saskatoon Goldfins Excelling at the 2025 KCS June Classic Invitational
The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club made an impressive splash at the 2025 KCS June Classic Invitational held in Kamloops, B.C., from June 13 to June 15, 2025. Competing against over 630 swimmers, the Goldfins’ contingent of eight talented young athletes, ages 11-12, demonstrated their prowess in the pool, earning accolades and setting personal bests.
Stellar Performances from Promising Swimmers
The Goldfins were represented by a formidable team comprising Aliyah Aubut, Jacob Findlay, Abigail Gauld, Miller Gotto, Emmy Hoffmann, Mateo Jarcan, Alex Kovalenko, and Cohen Veikle. Each swimmer participated in both heats and finals, showcasing their skills and determination at this highly competitive meet, which featured a new chase start component.
Medalists
Abigail Gauld: Silver in 100M Breaststroke (1:24.81) and 200M Breaststroke (3:02.82).
Mateo Jarcan: Bronze in 200M Butterfly (3:13.44).
A Finals Achievements
Aliyah Aubut: 7th in 100M Breaststroke, 4th in 200M Backstroke, 5th in 100M Backstroke.
Abigail Gauld: 5th in 50M Breaststroke and 200M Freestyle.
Emmy Hoffmann: 8th in 200M Backstroke and 100M Backstroke.
Mateo Jarcan: 6th in 100M Backstroke.
Relay Success
Girls 11-12: 3rd in both 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley.
Boys 11-12: 6th in 200 Freestyle and 4th in 200 Medley.
Achieving New Heights
Alex Kovalenko reached a significant milestone by posting his first Swim Saskatchewan Senior Provincial qualifying time standard in the 50M Backstroke, clocking 38.98 in the preliminary heats and improving to 38.08 in the finals.

Alex Kovalenko: 50 Backstroke
The team’s overall performance was commendable, placing 15th with 308 points, a testament to the hard work and dedication of these young swimmers.
Personal Bests and Most Improved
The Goldfins 11-12 Select Team achieved 44 personal best times over the weekend. Notable improvements include:
Alex Kovalenko: 50 Breaststroke with a remarkable 17.4% improvement, shaving off 10.76 seconds.
Abigail Gauld: 200 Individual Medley with a 15.1% improvement, reducing her time by 31.01 seconds.
Abigail Gauld: 100 Breaststroke with a 14.3% improvement, cutting 14.10 seconds.
