A Prestigious Gathering in Vancouver

The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club is poised for an exhilarating experience at the 61st Annual Mel Zajac JR. International Swim Meet, which takes place from June 5 to 7, 2026, in the vibrant city of Vancouver, B.C. This esteemed competition will bring together over 700 swimmers from across Canada and the United States, marking it as a premier event in the World Aquatics Tier 3 International Competition.

 

 

Goldfins Ready to Shine

Our dedicated team of 14 outstanding athletes will represent the Goldfins in this esteemed meet. The swimmers include Sami Benning, Jayden Bilous, Victoria Darling, James DeLathouwer, Foster Fourney, Nicole Godbout, Avery Houle, Ella Howe, Claire Huber, Isabel Magus, Maddi Sanz, Carson Sereda-Wosminity, Bryce Tierney, and Kian Wu. These swimmers embody the spirit of dedication and athletic prowess that defines the Goldfins.

A Word from the Head Coach

Steven Hitchings, Head Coach of the Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club, shares his enthusiasm: “The Mel Zajac International provides a unique experience for our athletes. Competing in such a prestigious event within a university campus setting allows our swimmers to gain independence and a taste of university life in Vancouver. Beyond the competition, our swimmers learn valuable lessons by observing elite athletes, which is crucial for their development both in and out of the pool.”

Competition Schedule and Events

The swim meet unfolds over three days, offering a rigorous schedule of events that test the mettle of each participant:

  • Friday, June 5, 2026: Preliminaries at 9:00 AM, Finals at 5:30 PM. Events include the 800M Freestyle (Men), 200M Backstroke, 100M Breaststroke, 200M Freestyle, 400M Individual Medley, 50M Fly, 1500M Freestyle (Women), and 4 x 100M Freestyle Relays.

  • Saturday, June 6, 2026: Preliminaries at 9:00 AM, Finals at 5:30 PM. Swimmers will compete in the 200M Individual Medley, 100M Fly, 50M Backstroke, 400M Freestyle, 200M Breaststroke, 50M Freestyle, and 4 x 200M Freestyle Relays.

  • Sunday, June 7, 2026: Preliminaries at 9:00 AM, Finals at 5:30 PM. Events include the 800M Freestyle (Women), 100M Backstroke, 50M Breaststroke, 200M Fly, 100M Freestyle, 1500M Freestyle (Men), and 4 x 100M Medley Relays.

All session start times are in Pacific Standard Time.
