Good Luck Will Go with the Goldfins Team This Weekend
The Killarney Swim Club is set to host the highly anticipated Killarney Long Course Invitational from May 1 to May 3, 2026. This prestigious event, drawing over 300 competitive swimmers, promises to be a remarkable showcase of talent and determination as participants vie for spots in the finals across multiple sessions throughout the weekend.
Gary Cheung, the Head Age Group Coach, is looking forward to a unique opportunity for the Goldfins' youngest competitors as they prepare to travel to Calgary for this event. “We will have 23 swimmers, ages 7 to 14, competing in the KSC Long Course Invitational this weekend. This 2.5-day meet, featuring both heats and finals, will be a first out-of-province race for some of our younger swimmers. It’s an invaluable experience to learn how to manage a multi-day competition and to build their confidence in long course racing,” Cheung expressed.
The schedule for the meet is as follows:
Session 1 – Friday, May 1, 2026
Timed Finals: Goldfins Swimmer Arrival: 2:00 PM | Competition: 3:30 PM
Events: 200M Backstroke, 200M Breaststroke, 200M Fly, 400M Individual Medley, 400M Freestyle
Session 2 & Session 3 – Saturday, May 2, 2026
Prelims: Goldfins Swimmer Arrival: 7:00 AM | Competition: 8:30 AM
Finals: Goldfins Swimmer Arrival: 3:00 PM | Competition: 4:15 PM
Events: 100M Backstroke, 200M Individual Medley, 50M Fly, 100M Freestyle, 50M Breaststroke
Session 4 & Session 5 – Sunday, May 3, 2026
Prelims: Goldfins Swimmer Arrival: 7:00 AM | Competition: 8:30 AM
Finals: Goldfins Swimmer Arrival: 3:00 PM | Competition: 4:15 PM
Events: 200M Freestyle, 100M Fly, 50M Backstroke, 50M Freestyle, 100M Breaststroke

Accompanying them are coaches Gary Cheung and Sean Pederson, who will provide guidance and support throughout the event.
