Goldfins Swimmers Poised for Success as They Head West
As the Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club prepares to board the bus westward, anticipation swells among the 36 young athletes set to compete in the 2026 Cascade Swimming International meet, aptly themed “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Taking place from May 28 to 31, 2026, at Calgary’s MNP Community & Sport Centre, this prestigious event promises to be a thrilling experience for participants and spectators alike.
With a roster featuring standout swimmers: Farrah Aitken, Aliyah Aubut, Adelaide Bartlett, Cori Biberdorf, Kasey Biberdorf, Joshua Block, Carsyn Busa, Kamlyn Dyck, Noah Findlay, Zeyah Flemming, Zahra Gokavi Bailey, Sidney Goodwin, Gillian Grayston, Nathan Grayston, Ava Gursky, Cameron Harms, Emmy Hoffmann, Hadley Hollick, Ivy Kellett, Landon Kennedy, Piper Lejbak, Anton Magsuci, Elliotte Mah, Benjamin Nesteroff, Binh An Nguyen, Ella Reiter, Everett Rempel, Will Sothilingam, Shay Sullivan, Jordan Szutiak, Naomi Wall, Brette White, Dakota Wigness, Oliver Wruck, Ethan Zbytovsky and Zoe Zimonick, the Goldfins are poised to showcase their diverse talents across a range of events. Under the guidance of Head Age Group Coach Gary Cheung, along with coaches Sean Pederson and Ted Murphy, the team is eager to make their mark. Coach Cheung emphasized, “CSI will be a great opportunity for our swimmers to experience a high level competitive LC “Championship-like” competition before we race at Man/Sask, which will be happening in July. I am thrilled to see our swimmers getting to"race with intent” in the preliminaries and learning how to "step things up" in the finals.”
Kicking off the excitement is the CSI Mini-Pro time trial on May 28, where sprinters will dash through 50M events. The meet then unfolds over three action-packed days, featuring a variety of races that highlight the swimmers' endurance and versatility. From the 200M Individual Medley to the grueling 1500M Freestyle, every lap promises a showcase of dedication and skill.
