Goldfins Shine at the 2026 Killarney Invitational: A Weekend of Triumph and Progress

Bronze Glory and New Heights:

The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club made a splash at the 2026 Killarney Long Course Invitational in Calgary, Alberta, from May 1st to 3rd. The club's contingent of twenty-four swimmers competed fiercely across four sessions, showcasing both skill and determination.

A standout performance was delivered by Zeyah Flemming, who secured a bronze medal in the 200M Backstroke. Not only did Zeyah earn a spot on the podium, but she also achieved her first Cascade Swimming International Qualifying Time Standard with an impressive 2:58.38. This achievement highlights her dedication and marks a significant milestone in her swimming journey.

 

 

Rising Stars and Provincial Standards:

The Goldfins swimmers collectively achieved nine new provincial qualifying time standards, underscoring the diverse range of talent within the club. Zeyah Flemming's accomplishment in the 200M Backstroke was complemented by several other swimmers meeting Saskatchewan's Long Course Provincial Qualifying Time Standards.

Saskatchewan A Long Course Provincial Qualifying Time Standards:

  • Victoria Dickson: 200 Breaststroke, 50 Backstroke

  • Luka Fehr: 50 & 100 Breaststroke, 50 Freestyle

  • Jackson LaBine: 50 Freestyle

  • Oliver Ledingham-Off: 50 Freestyle

  • Naomi Wall: 100 Backstroke

 

Personal Bests and Most Improved:

Throughout the weekend, Goldfins swimmers collectively shattered 91 personal best short course times, demonstrating their continuous improvement. Dora Xing, in particular, achieved a remarkable feat by attaining 100% personal best long course times, a testament to her hard work and focus.

Highlighting the club's most improved performances, Ty Fehr achieved a 21.6% improvement in the 50 Fly, Jackson LaBine followed with a 15.8% improvement in the same event, and Naomi Wall showed a 12.4% improvement in the 50 Breaststroke.

 

 

Looking Ahead:

The Goldfins Swim Club extends its gratitude to the Killarney Swim Club for hosting a vibrant and competitive event. As the Goldfins prepare for their next challenge, they will be competing at the Craven SPORT Services Racing Series #4 on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Shaw Centre in Saskatoon, SK. The team looks forward to building on their recent successes and continuing their journey of growth and achievement.
