Goldfins Records Set at the 48th Goldfins Invitational
The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club took part in the 48th Annual Goldfins Invitational held from November 1 to 3, 2024, at the Shaw Centre in Saskatoon, SK. During this exciting competition, the Goldfins celebrated two G1 swimmers who achieved new Club Short Course records. Kyla Butterworth participated in the 50M Breaststroke final, where she tied the Girls 10 & Under Goldfins Short Course record with a time of 43.43. She now shares this record with former Goldfins swimmer Ridley Burwell, who set it back in 2016. Additionally, Miller Gotto established a new Girls 10 & Under 50M Backstroke record at 37.54, surpassing the previous record of 37.61 set by Maclaren Burwell in November 2012.
The pool was bustling, as many swimmers experienced their first meet of the 2024-2025 swim season. The Goldfins were represented by 96 swimmers, who participated in over 650 preliminary and final events. The atmosphere was electric, filled with cheers and celebration as three Goldfins swimmers achieved Senior and Junior Provincial Qualifying Time Standards, qualifying for the 2025 Provincial Swim Meet. Congratulations to Goldfins swimmers Aliyah Aubut, Sofia Baron, Fares Alkhatib, Sadie Burrows, Kyla Butterworth, Sophia Klawitter, Markel Martinez, De San Vice, Harper Bear, and Briana Boyko for earning a place on the 2025 Goldfins Senior Provincial Team. Overall, the Saskatoon Goldfins recorded an impressive total of 162 new qualifying time standards.
The Goldfins also achieved a remarkable 481 personal best short course times, with 24 swimmers achieving 100% personal bests.
