GOLD for GOLD at PWI 2023
It was a GOLDEN weekend for Goldfins swimmer Noah Findlay, as he stood on the top of the podium eight (8) times at the Prairie Winter International 2023 – December 7 – 10, 2023 – Winnipeg, MB.
Noah was awarded the Boys 13 & Under Individual High Points award, scoring a total of 40 points. Noah’s additional achievements at this meet included him posting two new Swim Saskatchewan AA Short Course Provincial Time Standards in the 800M Freestyle and in the 400M Freestyle. Noah finished the weekend off on a high, as he swam the 100M Freestyle, posting a time under the minute mark for the first time in his swimming career.
“Noah had such a terrific meet,” Head Development Coach Jennifer Robinson said, as she reflected on the Findlay’s performance achievements. “Noah accepted the challenge head on, as his weekend’s swimming program, included a total of eight individual events and his anchoring of the two Goldfins Boys’ 13 & Under A relay teams. It was no small feat to compete in 18 races across the weekend, posting one-hundred percent personal best individual times.”
Goldfins swimmer Piper Lejbak tied for the Girls 12 & Under Individual High Points award, posting a total of 25 points. Lejbak also competed in a total of eight individual events and was a member of the two Goldfins Girls 12 & Under A relays.
Robinson added, “Piper’s winning of the High Point award was well deserved. She too had a total of 18 races across the four-day competition. She simply did not let up as she posted five new AA Short Course Provincial Time Standards in the 400M Individual Medley, 100M Fly, 200M Fly, 200M Breaststroke, and in the 200M Backstroke.”
Goldfins swimmer, Shay Sullivan, rounded out the Top 3 Goldfins high point scorers, posting a total of 14 individual points. The Goldfins Swim Club proudly stood on every step of the podium throughout the weekend. The Club’s swimmers took home 47 individual medals and 3 relay medals. The Goldfins coaches were pleased to see numerous Goldfins swimmers contributing to the overall medal count.
“The medal winning performances, paired with personal best achievements show growth and development across the Program”, said Robinson. “Considering that we are only a third of the way through our season, I feel like our Club will have a lot of motivation going into the new year.”
