A Magical Performance at the Spooktacular Goldfins Invitational 49

The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club cast a spell of success at the Spooktacular Goldfins Invitational 49, held from October 24th to 26th, 2025, at the Shaw Centre in Saskatoon. With an enchanting mix of talent and determination, 240 swimmers competed in over 1600 individual events and 54 relays, breaking records like a werewolf breaks a full moon silence. The Goldfins emerged from the mist of competition to etch their names into swimming folklore, setting 2 new swim meet records with a hauntingly impressive performance.
In a display reminiscent of witches on a broomstick, the Goldfins Girls 'A' 400M Freestyle Relay team—Victoria Darling, Isabel Magus, Nicole Godbout, and Sami Benning—surged through the water, breaking the previous invitational record with a time of 4:06.86, banishing the old record of 4:07.92 set in 2023. Not content with just one triumph, they continued their spectral streak by setting a new record in the 400M Medley Relay at 4:31.19, outperforming the former mark of 4:34.16.

An Nguyen, a rising star as bright as a pumpkin's glow, carved out a new provincial record in the Girls 10 & Under 50M Breaststroke, finishing fifth with a time of 39.69, surpassing the previous record of 40.52. An's achievement was accompanied by an improvement of her own club record from March 2025.
Abigail Gauld brought down an enduring club record in the Girls 50M Breaststroke Short Course, a record that had stood like a haunted house since October 2013. With a golden touch, she posted a personal best of 36.52, securing the gold medal.

The Goldfins swimmers: Aliyah Aubut, Abigail Gauld, Miller Gotto & Sofia Baron set a new Goldfins Girls 11 – 12 – 400M Freestyle Relay Record, posting a time of 4:35.03, improving the record that had been set back in 2002. The previous record of 4:39.81, set by Goldfins swimmers Alexis Pufahl, Marlee Budz, Khristine Feraro, and Rikia Trischuk, has now been surpassed with an impressive time of 4:35.03.

The Goldfins' spellbinding achievements continued in the Girls 400M Medley Relay event. The team of Aliyah Aubut, Abigail Gauld, Zoe Gursky, and Miller Gotto conjured a new record at 5:03.22. This record had been set in January 2025 by Goldfins swimmers: Naomi Liu, Abigail Gauld, Sadie Burrows & Ava Gursky – 5:03.44.
